Privacy and security

ChatGNB was designed with privacy, security, and responsible AI use at its core. It is hosted in a secure environment and configured to meet the Government of New Brunswick’s data protection and cybersecurity requirements.

Data stays in Canada​

ChatGNB runs in Microsoft Azure’s Canada region, ensuring that data is stored and processed within Canadian borders. This supports GNB’s obligations under applicable privacy legislation and aligns with public sector data residency requirements.

Your data is not used to train AI models​

Nothing you enter into ChatGNB is used to train or improve the underlying AI model. This ensures your prompts and generated outputs remain private and are not added to any public or shared datasets.

Uploaded files are not retained​

When you upload documents to ChatGNB, they are processed temporarily and automatically deleted after your session ends. This reduces the risk of unintended data exposure and ensures uploaded content is not accessible after use.

Chat history is private and user-controlled​

ChatGNB retains your chat history in your personal account. It is encrypted, accessible only to you, and never shared with others. You can view past chats, continue a previous conversation, or delete any history at any time. Chat history is not visible to administrators and is not used for model training.

Sign-in security​

Access to ChatGNB is secured using Active Directory (AD) single sign-on. This ensures that only authorized GNB employees can use the platform and that access can be centrally managed and monitored by the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO).

Use responsibly​

ChatGNB is a powerful tool, but it must be used with care. Never enter personal or confidential information. Always verify results and apply critical thinking when interpreting responses. For more guidance, see the Terms of use.
