ChatGNB is a generative artificial intelligence (AI) platform exclusively for Government of New Brunswick (GNB) employees. This platform is a tool for brainstorming, innovation, communication, and learning. As we begin our journey of discovering and integrating generative AI, it's vital to use this technology responsibly and ethically.

1. Seek leadership approval

Before using ChatGNB, ensure that department leaders are aware and approve of its use.

2. Understand the risks

Be aware that generative AI poses risks related to privacy, security, bias, misinformation, and intellectual property. Stay vigilant about these risks.

3. Protect privacy

Do not provide, use, or generate personal or identifying information when interacting with AI. Adhere to the ChatGNB privacy statement to protect individual privacy and comply with privacy legislation.

4. Recognize the limitations

AI models are trained on large amounts of source data. Any information they generate is subject to the limitations and biases of those data sets.

5. Review and verify

Ensure that subject matter experts review and edit all generated information for bias, accuracy, ethical considerations, and integrity.

6. Apply critical thinking

AI can provide believable but incorrect responses. Always verify AI-generated output against reliable sources.

7. Don't lose the human touch

AI lacks empathy and an understanding of complex human emotions and situations. It is not a replacement for human involvement, intelligence, and creativity.

8. Stay informed

Generative AI is rapidly evolving. It is everyone’s responsibility to make sure these tools are being used safely, ethically, and in alignment with public service values.
