How to start a chat
Starting a chat in ChatGNB is quick and simple. Whether you’re looking for help drafting content, translating text, or exploring an idea, all you need is a clear prompt.
Step-by-step: Start a chat
- Go to the ChatGNB homepage
- Click Sign In
- Sign in using your GNB credentials (Active Directory login)
- After signing in, you'll land on the ChatGNB start page
The start page uses the default Mode, which is designed for general-purpose use.
You’ll see the text input field already active with a placeholder message: “Start a conversation.”
- Type your prompt in the input field
- Press Enter or click the Send icon
ChatGNB will respond within seconds. You can continue the conversation by asking follow-up questions, refining the task, or providing more detail — all within the same thread.
Tips for starting strong
To get useful responses, write clear, specific prompts:
-
Be direct about what you need:
“Rewrite this using plain language for the general public.” -
Include context or goals:
“Summarize this for senior leadership.” -
Use natural language — no commands or special formatting required
If your task involves rewriting, translating, or summarizing something, remember to paste the full content into the chat. ChatGNB can only work with what you provide in your prompt.
Start a new conversation
When you’re ready to begin a new task, click New chat in the left sidebar to start fresh in the same Mode.
Start a chat in a different Mode
To start a new chat in a different Mode:
- Open the Mode selector at the top of the sidebar
- Choose the Mode you want to use (e.g., Writing, Translation)
- Click New chat to begin a new conversation in that Mode
Each Mode is tailored to different tasks — you can learn more in the ChatGNB Modes section.
